CLASSROOM GRANTS

Payroll Deduction Plan

Since 2001, School Board of Levy County employees have participated in the Foundation Payroll Deduction Plan
to support the LCSF NICE Grant program.

As of May 2009, the plan has 175 contributors for a total of $880.00 per month.

 NICE Grant Program:  Helping our Teachers Innovate

The NICE (New Ideas for Classroom Education) Grants are presented annually to classroom teachers who submit proposals.  A Foundation selection committee reviews the proposals and awards the grants, which are funded by the Foundation Payroll Deduction Plan.  NICE Grants were awarded to 21 teachers in 2008-2009 for a total of $10,264.

Citigroup Financial Corporation

Since 2001 Citigroup Financial Corporation has provided $1,200 per year for Teacher Team Mentor Grants partnering veteran and novice teachers for classroom projects.  Three teachers received grants in 2008-2009.

Progress Energy Corporation

Since 2001, Progress Corporation provided up to $1,000 per year for Classroom Teacher Grants in math and science.  Three teachers received grants in 2008-2009.

GFWC Williston Junior Woman’s Club

For the fifth year, the GFWC Williston Junior Woman’s Club has sponsored classroom grants for teachers in Williston schools, with 11 teachers receiving funds in 2008-2009.

Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union

This year, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union has provided $1,350 in classroom grants.  In addition, the Credit Union has set up a $1,200 discretionary fund for students needs.  Three teachers received grants in 2008-2009.

State Match Grants

Since 2001, the Foundation has used private sector donations to secure State match Grants from the Florida Legislature.  Theses grants fund programs that benefit low-performing students.  In the past seven years we have received $98,024.79 in State Match Grants.

Progress Energy Grant

Levy County Schools Foundation was awarded $20,000 from Progress Energy.
